Well, here in Austin, things are looking less and less like a problem. I just got back from the comedy club and one of the comics mentioned what I had observed, which is why are people 300 miles from the coast, in Austin, hoarding water and canned goods and freaking out?

What I thought was funny when I was at the store on Wednesday was not only is there no water, long gas lines and no canned goods, but apparently there has been a run on bananas. Plenty of other fruits and vegetables were available, but bananas were gone. I don't know if people are using them for weird magick spells to ward off the hurricane or if Austin really likes potassium.

Anyways, we should be fine here. Machelles brother is coming to stay with us from Houston, and is bringing three adults, one kid, and a cat with him. We have no idea who these people are, but how can you say no... and why the hell would you.

Originally, her brother was going to ride it out in Houston and one of Machelles sisters and her boy friend were going to stay with us, while the other sister and her husband stayed with her folks in San Antonio. But now they are staying in Houston as they don't have enough gas to get out of Houston, and there is no gas around to fill up with.

I wish them luck.

Not sure when our guests are arriving, but last I heard they hadn't left Houston yet, so I am guessing late tomorrow afternoon or evening. Hopefully it is after Machelle gets off work, as I will be leaving early to work the haunted house. It is opening night and all proceeds are going to benefit the cops and firemen of New Orleans. So I get to go scare people, make some extra cash and hopefully get back before the storms hit.

P.S. Mother nature is a terrorist, and Dubya needs to declare war on her for attacking our cities without provocation. But based on our eco-policies, she is probably justified and the hurricanes are just self defense. We'll let the courts decide what to do to her, but then again, this is Texas we'll probably give her lethal injections.
